Lam Research is looking to hire experienced Supplier Business Managers (SBM) for our growing Indirect Materials and Services (IMS) Team.  Experience in general Indirect Commodities, typical for Large Companies, is required (preferable experience in spending areas such as:  Construction Services, Capital Equipment, HR Benefits, Info Technology, Gases and Chemicals, Freight and Logistics, etc.). 

 

Job Description:   Plans, organizes and controls the business/contracts/negotiations for the strategic acquisition of Indirect Materials and Services for the company.  Will work proactively with Internal Customers to achieve their business objectives with our Indirect Suppliers.   Will be responsible to formulate and execute supply management strategies for Indirect commodities, with a focus on contract negotiations.

Primary Functions and Performance Objectives

  • Working with Internal Customers, SBM Serves as Team Leader for supplier negotiations, renegotiations and contract addendums.  Negotiates performance-based agreements, which provide incentive for continuous supplier improvement.  Advises IMS Manager/Director & Internal Customers on negotiations plans.
  • Gathers metric requirements from Internal Customers, and monitors supplier performance against these expectations to ensure continuous supplier improvement.  Regularly evaluates quality and performance benchmarks on Key Suppliers, and develops Business Continuity Plans on Critical Indirect Commodities. 
  • Works closely with Internal Customers to develop sourcing strategies, and gathers market intelligence in order to define a preferred suppliers for highly technical and/or contractually complex commodities. 
  • May represent IMS team on cross-functional commodity teams (CT) or in other Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP), as assigned by supervisor or Director, that focus on the strategic or operational challenges of Lam Internal Customers 
  • Maintains current knowledge on relevant trends by personal contact, industry reports, trade journals, etc.
  • Position is measured quantitatively (on basis of cost or value creation vs. existing baselines) and qualitatively (based on feedback of internal customers)
  • Requires excellent analytical and written/oral communication skills with ability to communicate cross-functionally and with various levels of the organization including Executives

     

    This position is that of an individual contributor who is a self- starter and able to operate independently with minimal day to day supervision.  Requires 3-5 years of experience in large company environment (>$3B revenue preferred), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a Technical field of study.   MBA and Institute for Supply Management Certification is a plus.
