The Impact You’ll Make

Join Lam as a Manufacturing Engineer where you’ll play a crucial role in supporting new product pilot production, virtual manufacturing, and high-volume manufacturing. Using your knowledge of technology and engineering principles you will oversee the planning, development, and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, and operations. You'll tackle technical, quality, and production challenges. Your expertise optimizing manufacturing costs and standards helps shape Lam's commitment to innovation and efficiency in manufacturing. 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Develops, implements, and maintains method sheets and operational sequences enabling the manufacture of complex sub-assemblies and final assemblies. 
  • Interfaces with manufacturing and design engineering teams to coordinate the release of new products. 
  • Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards, and makes process recommendations to optimize production on new product lines. 
  • Works closely with design engineering to investigate and resolve new / existing product issues stemming from design, material selection, or production processes. 
  • Reviews new designs based on cost, performance, and manufacturability - makes recommendations to design engineering regarding manufacturability (DFMA) improvements. 
  • Makes data-driven recommendations regarding outsourcing / insourcing of subassemblies. 
  • Maintains accurate records and reporting systems supporting full traceability in manufacturing operations. 
  • Designs, procures, and implements safe and cost-effective manufacturing fixtures. 
  • Performs root cause investigation and recommends corrective action for operational concerns, such as material use variances, production bottlenecks, and quality issues.  
  • Creates and releases engineering drawings & bill of materials (BOM) using Engineering Change Management process. 
  • Dispositions non-conforming material based on engineering requirement in associated design documentation. 
  • Works confidently and communicates effectively in vibrant cross-functional organizations. 

 

Who We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years’ experience; or equivalent experience. 
  • Skilled troubleshooting capabilities in the areas of electro/mechanical assemblies. 
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes. 
  • Proficient in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) with approach to structured problem-solving and decision-making. 
  • Proficient in software applications such as CAD modeling, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), or Product Data Modeling (PDM) systems. 
  • Experience in Engineering Change Management Process. 
  • Working knowledge in Operation Method Sheets (OMS), process planning, and Bill of Materials (BOM) Management.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge of Semiconductor equipment, Capital Equipment industry and its manufacturing processes. 
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in English. 
  • Statistical analysis skills including statistical process control and data analysis used in production setting. 
  • Knowledge in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA). 
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders or customers in technical matters.

Salary

 

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $84,000.00 -  $185,000.00.

 

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
