Customer Owned Material (COM) Operations Program Manager


Job Description:

Leads process improvement initiatives through the disciplined use of measurements, accountability, analysis and discussion of process alternatives in order to arrive at best practices. Plans, manages, and controls the activities of a team that provides operational support for Customer Owned Material (COM) Repairs. Brings expertise or identifies subject matter experts in support of multi-functional efforts in process improvement, data capture and analysis, infrastructure support, tool ownership and compliance with procedures, etc. Advises business groups by providing strategic direction to initiative prioritization, integration and resource application. Ensures that policies and procedures align with corporate vision. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel ensuring efficient operation of the function.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Years of Experience:       Minimum 4 - 6 years
  • Job Experience:               Minimum 4 years supervisory experience

Working experience in the following areas: Experience working in a multinational high technology corporation, in operations, customer service, reverse logistics, accounting or finance role, preferred.

  • Educational:                     Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages a team, who is responsible for the following:
  • Interacts with customers and/or service representatives to handle a variety of post-sales repair/refurb/cleaning service functions
  • Receives customer requests and prepares documents/trouble tickets related to processing returns (RMA)
  • Updates databases with status of returned materials issues and accounts for returns inventory
  • Records and reports the status of equipment returns, repairs, replacements, sales orders and delivery schedules
  • Maintains records of returns, schedule changes, product enhancements/changes, product pricing and resolves return credit problems
  • Coordinates repair activities with planning and/or engineering departments to repair / replace inventory at an effective cost and timely manner.
  • Processes purchase orders and requests for quotes to suppliers. 
  • Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.
  • Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.
  • Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including repair support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.
  • End to End Management of the COM Repair Business Process – including Reverse Logistics
  • Personnel Management, including One on Ones and Performance Reviews
  • Process Documentation and Process Improvements


Mandatory Skills required to perform the job:

  • Proficiency in SAP, MS Office Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Proven ability and skill set to analyze, document and improve Customer Service, Repair Ops business processes with sustained results
  • High level of customer interfacing skills, effective listener, professional and courteous
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate cross-functionally
  • High energy, strong work ethic, adaptive, able to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a desire to work as part of a team
  • Strong Problem Solving and Decision Making skills
  • Need to be able to escalate effectively when required
