Position Overview:

Lam Research is looking for a hands-on Spares Operations Director, or an upwardly mobile Senior Manager, to help lead the support Global Spares Operations (GSO) team. 

 

GSO business levels have doubled in the past 3 years to $2B, and is looking to double again over the next 5 years.  During this time-frame we are looking to hire the organization’s next generation of Leaders and Subject Matter Experts to lead and support 300 globally distributed people.  This GSO HQ function is in Livermore CA, with its HQ team evenly distributed with Bangalore, India.  

 

GSO is looking for individuals who are not only committed to continuous improvement but looking for positive Disruptors who can help GSO revolutionize our 4 core Operating Principles: (a) commercial capability, (b) quality of services rendered, (c) speed to solutions, and (d) scalability/productivity. 

This critical GSO position will partner with Regional Spares Managers (RSMs), Customer Service Business Group (CSBG), and Supply Chain Management (SCM) to effectively and efficiently serve our Customers and Field Service Engineers (FSEs) needs for Spare Parts through an on-going commitment to innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement.  As the Spares Operations Director, you will lead the Globally distributed Reverse Logistics, Repair Procurement, Repairable Part Planning teams and partner with both CSBG and GSO Order Management to support customer-specific commercial programs related to repairable parts.

 

Job Details and Qualifications:

 

Organization

  • Develop, establish and maintain operational policies and performance standards for Reverse Logistics, including timely returns of parts for repair, Failure Analysis, and Warranty Recovery
  • Develop, establish and maintain operational policies and performance standards for Repair Operations, including repair cycle times, local repair, and alternative repair solutions
  • Develop, establish and maintain operational policies and performance standards for Repairable Part Planning, ranging from optimizing Inventory Turns, minimizing Inventory E&O, and optimizing localized repairable pools of inventory (dedicated inventory pools to support customer-site specific needs and localized repaired needs)
  • Partner with CSBG to help develop scalable global and customer-specific commercial programs
  • Develop, lead and manage an organizational structure that meets the goals of the organization. 
  • Lead a distributed organizational model with functions located in both Bangalore, India and Livermore, CA
  • Implements plans for key initiatives and investment areas to achieve defined objectives
  • Experience working in a Matrixed, Global Organization, effectively collaborating across functional and geographic boundaries. 
  • Manage budget for own area and allocates resources accordingly

 

Effectiveness and Efficiency

  • Maintained a culture of Continuous Improvement, and identifying positive Disruptive Change opportunities
  • Demonstrated success in launching step-level events, such as new ERP implementation (including CRM for Service, Serialization, etc)
  • Demonstrated success in driving and sustaining BKMs across multiple sites.
  • Maintained an effective Training program that ensures a global presence of professional and qualified CSRs, with a demonstrated commitment to process Documentation.

 

Other

  • Experience working with both external Customers and internal Customers (FSEs)
  • Creative thinking and strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Strong quantitative skills and knowledge of data warehouse applications (Data Literate)
  • Must be able to travel internationally several times throughout the year. 

 

Education:

Typically requires a minimum of 8-10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or 6 years and a Master’s degree.
