Job Responsibilities

This is a great opportunity to join Lam Research’s Livermore, CA manufacturing operation in an exciting role working to ramp new products, participate on lean continuous improvement teams, help proactively drive a safe work environment, and help study and solve complex manufacturing challenges.  Don’t have all these skills in your toolbox yet?  We will help you with internal and external training to drive skill development in these areas.

Lam’s Sr. Assemblers’ navigate computer-based work instructions to install parts and hardware using hand tools and fixtures on wafer fabrication equipment (WFE) in a Lean manufacturing clean-room environment. 


Job Duties:

  • Effectively use hand tools, torque wrenches, equipment, and fixtures to assemble wafer fabrication equipment
  • Effectively work on a team in a fast paced, time-sensitive environment, ensuring workflow and production schedules are maintained; provide flexibility and responsiveness for changing priorities including rework requirements and pilot build projects
  • Read and precisely follow work instructions and schematics; confirm correct parts are received prior to installation; provide documented feedback on work instructions through redline process
  • Effectively identify and escalate issues; assist Leads, Supervisors, and Engineers with troubleshooting issues; disposition NCI’s and escalate issues to Engineering
  • Cross-train in multiple work centers; perform all operations on designated product line; independently complete leak checks; train other Assemblers on specific job functions
  • Perform audits through visual inspection and verifying checklists, document findings; complete rework, identify and document nonconformances; close assigned tasks, verify work completed and sign off
  • Kaizen primary team member; model and mentor others on continuous improvement behavior
  • Complete all required safety trainings; follow safe work practices and adhere to personal and product safety guidelines at all times; support safe work environment by responding directly and quickly to unsafe practices.  Complete all required trainings and certifications for processes, procedures, and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Eight+ years’ experience as an Assembler in the semiconductor industry or other equivalent large capital equipment manufacturer (ex., automotive, aerospace, or medical device industries)
  • Excellent electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Working understanding of methodologies used to drive continuous improvement under Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Able to demonstrate stable employment history and proven track-record of consistently exceeding job performance expectations
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Work 12-hour shifts on a team in a clean room environment wearing PPE (bunny suit, safety glasses, masks, shields, gloves, safety footwear)
  • Effectively read, write, and communicate with others in English


Physical requirements include ability to squat, kneel, walk, climb, stand and operate over 50% of time; lift 35 pounds; perform repetitive motions using hands and various hand tools; ability to distinguish between colors for wire identification.
