  • Work in the machining commodity, so machining experience a plus.
  • Serve as Team Leader for most supplier Global Agreement negotiations, renegotiations and contract addendums.  Negotiates performance-based, preferred supplier agreements, to provide incentive for continuous supplier improvement.  Advises commodity team leader on strategic plans.
  • Use goals/metrics to monitor supplier performance against these expectations to ensure continuous supplier improvement.  Regularly evaluate quality and performance benchmarks, and the risks associated with the preferred supply base selection. 
  • Encourages and coordinates early supplier involvement in highly technical and/or contractually complex new products parts design using the suppliers’ expertise to optimize quality and manufacturability.
  • Works independently to develop and apply a strategic commodity plan, in order to define a preferred supplier base for highly technical and/or contractually complex commodities. 
  • Develop and enforce  Lam’s supply chain inventory control strategy (e.g., consignment inventory).  Leads a team to assist in the research, development, and implementation of solutions to supply issues.
  • Represents Supply Chain on a cross-functional strategic commodity team (CFT) that focuses on strategic supply challenges, and to ensure internal/external customer needs are satisfied.
  • Maintains current knowledge on relevant trends by personal contact, industry reports, trade journals, etc.

 · Requires excellent analytical and written/oral communication skills with ability to communicate cross-functionally and with various levels of the organization including Executives

  • Understanding of manufacturing, operations and costs is desired

· The role is that of an individual contributor who is a self- starter and able to operate independently of day to day supervision.
