Responsible for highly visible customer support through providing quality repair/troubleshooting, preventive maintenance service, performance of on-site installation and relocation start-up service of complex electromechanical and electronic systems at customer sites. Performs autonomously when analyzing and solving problems, covers a broad range of Lam products to the component level. May co-ordinate work of assigned engineers and assumes accountability for customer satisfaction with service received.





  • Troubleshoots and repairs complex electro-mechanical, process, peripheral, and facility related problems. 
  • Plans and executes complex upgrades. 
  • Manages escalations.  
  • Recommends procedural changes to customers.
  • May assist Process Eng with Design of Experiments (DOEs) evaluation.


Performs application related Project Management, which includes

  • Plans, manages, and executes large projects on extended timelines. 
  • Serves as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.
  • Assigns tasks to lower level employees to ensure project completion on time


Leadership function

  • May own customer/site Key Performance Indicators.
  • Provides technical instruction and leadership on installs, repairs, operations and calibration.
  • Coordination of application of new procedures.
  • Certifies Field Service Engineers according to certification program.



  • Defines general engineering approaches as well as specific solutions.
  • May execute fundamental engineering design and analysis with supervision. 
  • Coordinates statistical analysis of failure rates and develops Continuous Improvement Programs.


Customer relation

  • Interfaces directly with customer at a management and engineer level. Professionally represents the company to the customer.
  • Interprets customers’ needs and clarifies if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to sales personnel, customer support reps, or engineers.
  • Drives customer meetings.
  • Measures customer trust and drives improvement programs.
  • Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.




Minimum education                 BS/AS degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related field (4 Year Bachelor degree preferred).

Minimum experience               8 years of applicable experience as well as significant service experience are required. Previous experience in semiconductor capital equipment required. Extensive knowledge of Lam Etch equipment is a strong advantage.


Required Skills                        Intermediate knowledge of German language is required and fluent in English

                                                  Utilizes worldwide knowledge base to ensure latest appropriate knowledge is effectively applied locally

                                                  Microsoft office advanced knowledge of Word, Powerpoint and Excel.


Working Time/Location          Full Time

                                                  Villach, Austria but some business travel is required


Details according to the Austrian general equal treatment act

This position is subject to the AUSTRIAN Collective Bargaining Agreement for employees in the Metal Technology Industries in occupation group G.

The minimum annual salary for the position (m/f) is 46.215,82 EUR gross based on a full-time employment. A higher payment is negotiable depending on expertise and skills.
