Metryx, founded in 2000 and based in the Aztec West Business Park in Bristol, is a fast growing, hi-tech company in the semiconductor equipment industry and is now owned by the market leader Lam Research, a multi-billion dollar US company.

Our core technology, mass metrology for the semiconductor manufacturing industry, is used worldwide at major semiconductor chip companies to monitor and control the manufacturing process of leading edge semiconductor devices.  

We are looking to add a Systems Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Engineering Director, the successful applicant will play a leading role in the design and development of new and existing products aligned with customer needs.  


Responsibilities: -

  • Develop system level requirements for the company’s products
  • Work with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, software) to realize new requirements
  • Apply engineering theories, methods and research techniques in the investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical problems associated with realizing new designs and developments
  • Design and conduct well defined experiments and tests in order to optimize new designs or developments

Qualifications and experience required: -

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ design and development experience of a complex electromechanical product
  • Exposure to the full product design lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, testing, manufacturing documentation)
  • Previous experience in the semiconductor industry desirable
  • ProE/Creo 3D CAD experience desirable


Applicants should be able to work within a small engineering team, working flexibly and communicating clearly on existing and new projects as they arise. They will require a high degree of self-motivation, to complete allocated projects/tasks within the specified time.

There will be opportunities for international travel in order to assist with introduction of new tests and fixtures at the remote factory.
