About the Group

Strategy & Innovation is a small but impactful group in the Office of the CTO who run Lam’s internal and external innovation programs and events. We are also charged with disseminating and supporting Lam’s Tech Vision across the company. So we intersect with Lam’s technology at a generalist level, with innovation practices such as design thinking, and with business strategy and program management. 

Our Challenge

The Strategy & Innovation (SIN) function in Lam’s Office of the CTO (OCTO) is responsible for sharing the corporate technology vision, leading internal and external innovation programs, and designing learning and development opportunities for the global Lam technical community. This role supports select Strategy & Innovation programs and events as we help develop the company’s next generation of products and services.


In this internship, Lam is seeking a student with interests in innovation processes around semiconductor manufacturing technologies. This individual will play a role in developing and implementing internal and external innovation programs and events. They will have an opportunity to partner with SIN team members to create and manage programs, collect metrics, analyze impact and work on the narrative for Lam’s innovation programs in a way that influences and drives participation in key activities for employees and other stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute ideas and execution of internal crowdsourcing campaigns tied to innovation, collaboration, and new ways of working.
  • Collect metrics across multiple communication channels for Lam’s university research engagements, including our annual research “call for proposals” campaign.
  • Conduct measurement and analysis of results for university engagements and events and offer recommendations for future program improvements.
  • Update internal communication vehicles including email distribution, the OCTO intranet site, internal and external articles and social media posts to engage the Lam technical community across the company and strengthen our reputation externally.
  • Support execution of OCTO virtual events including our internal and external seminar series and other technical and networking forums.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Strategy & Innovation team as well as cross-functional team members working on communications, event management, and innovation programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Be pursuing a master’s degree in a business, communications or cross-department business and technology management program, with a bachelor’s degree in a business, communications, or STEM field.
  • Have strong career interest and experience in innovation, entrapreneurship, and related topics.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, along with SharePoint and Teams.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Fluency in technical communications and enthusiasm to learn Lam’s technology vision.
  • Ability to develop and tell a great story across multiple mediums, especially web applications and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Capability to follow a business decision making process.
  • Strength in both verbal and visual thinking.
  • Be self-motivated, highly collaborative and a clear communicator.
  • Curiosity and a sense of humor.
