Lam Research is looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Architect to be part of a dynamic team supporting IT Infrastructure and Operations. This position’s primary responsibility are the standards and architecture around the core technologies in the data center. The right candidate will have knowledge of server, storage, backup, power, virtualization software and some networking, as well as operating systems and applications commonly deployed in typical SMB or Enterprise Data Centers. The IT Infrastructure Architect will be responsible for working across multiple groups, towers, and geographies to successful deliver business value. This individual will need to have excellent communication skills, determination, and perseverance to be successful.

 

The Infrastructure Architect will provide technical leadership across data center technologies, from documentation to strategic decision making and project planning.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide expert level understanding of data center Infrastructure & Networking (Data Center Design, Network Architecture, System Architecture Virtualization, Systems Management, Security, Cloud Consumption)
  • Prepare vision and strategy work products, technology and product analysis, white papers, and responses to management queries on strategy and product related topics.
  • Define the technology 3-year roadmap
  • Document architectural standards and technology framework
  • Define, design, and deliver technology solutions that address current challenges and future needs of the enterprise.
  • Make design decisions, spotting key trends and correcting flawed processes.
  • Be the change agent representing the need for the implementation of technology solutions
  • Participate in the discovery and documentation of the Lam’s business scenarios that are driving the solution.
  • Be responsible for the overall architecture integrity and maintaining the strategic vision of Lam’s technology projects.
  • Ensure leverage opportunities are identified, using building blocks, and is a liaison between the functional groups, including engineering, development and support, to ensure that the leverage opportunities are realized.
  • Leading the research, evaluation, selection, design and delivery of infrastructure technologies and best practices.
  • Ensure AD/M Lifecycle Management is followed and implemented for data center technology.
  • Provide expert level troubleshooting for technology components and interfaces
  • Act as a liaison with other architects (security, infrastructure, cloud, etc.) and with delivery teams working primarily in an Agile manner
  • Coordinate with and provide technical direction to the outsource service provider, including Ensure Architecture guidelines and Standards are followed and the  Technical Roadmap is implemented
  • Overall accountability for how the operation is running as a whole, from a technology perspective.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10 or more years of Infrastructure experience
  • Experience working in a global organization of size, scope and complexity

Other Qualifications

  • Have experience migrating applications to the cloud and understand the associated issues and problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required due to dynamic nature of discussions with other engineering and product teams
  • Must have solid experience working with Data Center Technologies (Unified Computing, Unified Fabric, Data Centre Switching, Storage Networking and Cloud Computing) within an enterprise environment.
  • Must have practical experience in design and implementation of Virtualization, OS, middleware and foundation applications such as Active Directory, load balancing, ADPKI, VMware vCenter management based solutions
  • Familiarity with technology solution/language/tools e.g. CloudStack, OpenStack, AWS, KVM, Chef, Puppet, Python, CMS, Dynamic Ops, API, etc.
  • Strong communication skills to communicate with customers, support personnel and management
  • Strong creative thinking, problem solving, planning, time-management and organization skills to balance and prioritize work
  • Strong ability to create and maintain formal and informal networks
  • Strong ability to lead and work in a team environment
