Lam Research is looking for an experienced IT Architect to be part of a dynamic team supporting IT and the various Business Units. This position’s primary responsibility is to bring forward ideas and technologies which will help the company be more efficient and effective, and enable the company to scale beyond $10B. The right candidate will have knowledge of architecture standards and multiple technologies in the space of servers, storage, backup, virtualization software, networking, as well as operating systems and applications commonly deployed in a typical Enterprise. The IT Architect will be responsible for working across multiple groups, towers, and geographies to successful deliver business value. This individual will need to have excellent communication skills, determination, and perseverance to be successful.


The IT Architect will provide technical leadership and visionary thinking across technologies and processes, from idea through proof of concept, and to strategic decision making and project planning.


Job Responsibilities

  • Provide expert level understanding of IT Architectures
  • Prepare vision and strategy work products, technology and product analysis, white papers, and responses to management queries on strategy and product related topics
  • Define the 3-year technology roadmap
  • Document architectural standards and technology framework
  • Define, design, and deliver technology solutions that address current challenges and future needs of the enterprise
  • Make design decisions, spotting key trends and correcting flawed processes
  • Be the change agent representing the need for the implementation of technology solutions
  • Participate in the discovery and documentation of the Lam’s business scenarios that are driving the solution
  • Be responsible for the overall architecture integrity and maintaining the strategic vision of Lam’s technology projects
  • Leading the research, evaluation, selection, design and delivery of technologies and best practices
  • Provide expert level troubleshooting for technology components and interfaces
  • Act as a leader for other architects (security, infrastructure, cloud, etc.) and with delivery teams working primarily in an Agile manner
  • Be an enabler for innovation within the GIS (IT) organization

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10 or more years of Infrastructure experience
  • Experience working in a global organization of size, scope and complexity

Other Qualifications

  • Have experience with establishing IT architectures and roadmaps
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required due to dynamic nature of discussions with other engineering and product teams
  • Must have solid experience working with people from the business as well as those in the technical business units
  • Must have knowledge of Virtualization, OS, middleware and foundation applications such as Active Directory, load balancing, ADPKI, VMware vCenter management based solutions
  • Familiarity with technology solution/language/tools e.g. ITIL, TOGAF, etc.
  • Strong communication skills to communicate with customers, support personnel and management
  • Strong creative thinking, problem solving, planning, time-management and organization skills to balance and prioritize work
  • Strong ability to create and maintain formal and informal networks
