Responsibilities

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities for the position we are seeking to fill include:

  • Negotiate, prepare and review complex commercial and intellectual property agreements with customers, collaborators and others
  • Manage other attorneys and paralegals internally and externally
  • Provide strategic support and partnership to various departments, including regional customer account teams, product and service engineering, and regional management and operations
  • Provide transactional support and partnership to operations and corporate teams as needed
  • Contribute to developing and delivering training, communications, processes and procedures for providing effective and efficient legal support
  • Provide timely and effective legal advice on a wide variety of corporate and commercial legal issues, including commercial law, intellectual property, data security, data privacy, antitrust law, and product safety
  • Provide timely general legal support to domestic offices and to international offices in Asia
  • Oversee occasional litigation and provide litigation support
  • Domestic and international travel required

The successful candidate will:

  • Have excellent English oral and written communication skills, so that you can discuss and explain complex technical and legal matters with legal and non-legal business partners and create high quality documents; similar skills in Mandarin required, and Korean and/or Japanese language strongly preferred
  • Be able to work successfully across time zones and cultures to support significant international operations and manage remote resources
  • Partner successfully with other business groups to achieve corporate objectives

  • J.D. or equivalent from a top law school 
  • China bar membership; California bar membership preferred
  • 10+ years of experience, including significant experience managing a team
  • Willing and able to travel internationally several times per year
  • Familiarity with Asian commercial law and practices, particularly Chinese and Taiwanese
  • Strong software licensing, antitrust, and/or cyber security knowledge
  • Professional level Mandarin required, Korean and/or Japanese language strongly preferred
  • Openness to possible relocation based on business need preferred
  • Background or experience in the semiconductor equipment and/or semiconductor industry is a plus
  • Technical or engineering background is a plus
  • Candidates of diverse backgrounds encouraged
