The Impact You’ll Make
The Facilities Lab Services Operations Engineer at Lam Research is responsible for supporting the operations of vacuum pumps and abatement systems that remove hazardous gases and chemicals from semiconductor lab equipment. As a Facilities Engineer at Lam, with your project management expertise, you’ll plan and oversee facility changes for plant, tool installations, and production equipment layouts. You'll work with architects to develop design criteria, layouts, and prepare contracts. You inspect construction and installation progress to ensure adherence with established specifications and schedules. Your focus on performance specifications required to meet unique operating conditions contributes to the efficiency and compliance of Lam's state of the art facilities.
What You’ll Do
- Provide engineering support for facilities infrastructure related to R&D tools, including vacuum pumps and abatement units.
- Work with engineering team members to ensure operations reliability and troubleshoot maintenance issues for systems such as process module vacuum pumps and point of use abatement units.
- Manage equipment operations reliability improvements, including parts ordering and spare inventory recommendations.
- Support commissioning sign-off for accepting operations equipment.
- Plans facilities changes for plant, labs, office, and production equipment layouts, working toward economy of operation, maximum use of facilities and equipment, and compliance with laws and regulations.
- Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Inspects construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
- Development and review procedures and business processes documentation related to operations.
- Conduct incident troubleshoot and support root cause analysis for responsible systems.
Who We’re Looking For
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical engineering or Chemical engineering; (Professional engineering license a plus).
- Three (3) years of experience in a similar role in the semiconductor industry.
- Demonstrated experience with advanced troubleshooting skills which support core responsibilities.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, and ability to interact with internal customers efficiently.
- Ability to work off hours and/or weekends if needed to support project deliverables on time while ensuring highest quality standards.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
