Job Responsibilities

This role in the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) group is responsible for executing the industrial hygiene program at Lam Research’s Tualatin campus. Responsibilities extend to participating in development of global industrial hygiene standards for Lam Research. Other EHS related functions include supporting equipment design reviews and implementation for new and changing installations, new chemical reviews, hazard assessments, supporting the emergency response program, and EHS related training.

Other Job Responsibilities

·   Review research, development, and construction plans against corporate and regulatory standards and provide enabling guidance to engineering and operations teams.

·   Understand designs for change to products, equipment and infrastructure and incorporate EHS related optimization to meet internal and regulatory standards.

·   Lead incident investigations to find root cause and implement effective corrective actions.

·   Evaluate and use performance metrics to drive goals, objectives, and process changes to create continuous improvement.

·   Employ existing knowledge with regulatory and industry standards for exposure thresholds (TLVs, PELS, RELs) and understand when and how to implement monitoring plans based on activities conducted by employees.

·   Conduct exposure monitoring for noise, light, ionizing and non-ionizing EM radiation, hazardous materials, and material handling.

·   Compile exposure data and use sound risk ranking methods to produce reports for regulatory agencies and in response to customer requests for information.

·   Review requests to use new chemicals or changes in chemical use and provide guidance on required PPE, risk reduction, and impacts to regulatory requirements.

·   Manage conflicting schedules, shifting workloads, and customer needs with a self-driven energy under little supervision.

·   Provide in person training and informational reports to various sized groups.

·   Partner and engage with employees and management where needed to drive successful EHS program implementation.

Minimum Qualifications

·   Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety, science or engineering discipline

·   Minimum 5 years experience in an EHS related role

·   Experience with industrial hygiene monitoring equipment, processes and software (e.g. gas detection, noise mapping, RF surveying)

·   Existing understanding of federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, EPA/DEQ, Building/Fire code and Oregon Health Authority

·   Existing understanding of industry standards including Semi, NFPA, NIOSH and ACGIH

·   Highly competent with Microsoft Office products (Excel, SharePoint)

·   Strong communication, leadership, and relationship building capability

Preferred Qualifications

·   MS degree in safety, science or engineering discipline

·   ABIH Certified Industrial Hygienist

·   Experience as a laser, radiation, or chemical safety officer

·   Experience in high tech industry

·   Experience with hazardous materials emergency response
