ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

In this position, you will be responsible for managing the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, including strategy, planning, and execution. You will also be responsible for supporting Lam’s government relations, employee communications, and community relations strategy and programs in the company’s Tualatin, OR facility.

 

CSR activities include launching a corporate initiative to set and provide ongoing management and oversight of CSR objectives that align with stakeholder interests and strategic business objectives. Excellent communication skills will be necessary to support these activities. Specific communications components of this position include: annual CSR report, materials, and presentations for internal awareness and cross-functional meetings, briefings and talking points for external meetings, project management documentation, analysis of relevant legislation/regulations, as well as external communications for general audiences as well as specific stakeholder groups, and other areas as assigned to support the overall activities of the programs.

 

In addition, you will be responsible for supporting employee communications activities at our Tualatin campus. Activities may include support for local delivery of Corporate Communications materials that inform and inspire employees to high levels of engagement, coordinating a variety of programs, ranging from local all-hands meetings to executive listening sessions with employees to developing news content and employee feature stories to be published on the company intranet.

 

Working with key constituents, this position will also support Lam’s local community giving programs (including grant making, employee volunteerism, matching gift program, and community events) that build awareness of Lam as a good corporate citizen and community member.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively coordinate with internal subject matter experts on CSR topics and government affairs, both in cross-functional team setting and individually, to determine risks, benefits, overall impacts to the business, and recommend and execute on opportunities for strategic action.

 

Support the development and production of an annual CSR report written to Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards

 

Regularly monitor CSR and government affairs topics, understand and communicate key stakeholder priorities, identify trends that may impact the company, and communicate Lam’s position to internal and external stakeholders as needed

 

Monitor local, state, and federal legislative and regulatory activities in the U.S. and track company-wide engagements with legislative offices and entities, industry advocacy groups, chambers of commerce and business groups, and government officials

 

Draft reports, business correspondences, talking points, articles, issue briefs, and other communications on government affairs and CSR issues and activities

 

Work closely with external resources, including consultants and industry advocacy groups, to support program objectives

 

Facilitate opportunities for Lam to provide financial and hands-on support in local community

 

Respond to internal and external solicitations for sponsorships, grants, donations. Train and manage employee volunteer leaders to support regular giving activities

 

Consult on, develop and/or implement internal communication strategies and programs as assigned to drive employee engagement; provide staff support at internal company meetings; participate in the ongoing activities of the Employee Communications function

 

Deliver completed projects on time and within budget.

 

 

REQUIRED WORK SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES

·       A sound understanding of strategic communications and the ability to recommend and implement integrated communications initiatives that achieve desired results

·       An understanding of and sensitivity to CSR and government affairs trends in the semiconductor industry

·       Experience working with advocacy groups, trade associations, chambers of commerce, professional organizations, and consulting firms to represent and advance the interests of a large company

·       Ability to organize own workload, maintaining high quality and output and achieving set deadlines and targets

·       Ability to rapidly identify key issues or key actions in complex situations, change plans accordingly, and to influence cross-functionally

·       Anticipate the informational needs of key audiences and proactively develop communication strategies and vehicles to address them

·       Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to understand, structure and present complex information, personally and in written form, precisely and clearly to all audiences

·       Excellent personal communicator with the stature and presence to represent the function externally

·       A clear and creative writing style and developed editing skills

·       Knowledge of industry environment and trends

·       Excellent project management/work flow coordination skills with capability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and deadlines

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Political Science, Public Affairs, or related field

6-10 years of combined Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility, Government Affairs, Community Relations experience

Technology, semiconductor, or equipment industry experience preferred
