The Impact You’ll Make

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to directly influence the next generation of Memory and Logic wafer fabrication equipment (WFE). By developing and releasing innovative hardware and cutting-edge technologies, your contributions will shape the future of Lam’s Strata and Carbon product lines. These deposition products are widely recognized as world market leaders, specifically designed for use in 3D NAND and Logic devices. These devices are integral to numerous applications, ranging from high-performance computing to consumer electronics. By pushing the boundaries of what is possible in wafer fabrication, your work will enable higher performance, greater efficiency, and increased scalability.

What You’ll Do

• Solve problems conclusively using fundamental principles, best practices and intuition.
• Create elegant and practical designs using advanced materials and processes.
• Perform detailed and timely analyses using first principles and computational models.
• Develop and conduct feasibility studies and test plans to characterize design performance.
• Prepare effective reports and technical presentations for diverse audiences of peers, leaders and customers.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to create solutions that can be produced reliably and efficiently around the world.
• Provide key deliverables including design review presentations, Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA), technical specifications, risk analyses and test specifications.
• Generate engineering documentation that meets Lam standards and industry best practices.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance for other engineers.
• Lead cross functional teams.

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 6+ years’ experience; or a Ph.D. with 4+ years’ experience; or equivalent work experience.
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
• Highly proficient in 3D CAD tools such as CREO, Siemens NX, ProE, SolidWorks, and others.
• Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.
• Understanding of statistics and its application to engineering
• Ability to multi-task and manage time

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
• Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Experience in leading projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
