We are seeking a senior level mechanical engineer to support highly innovative Deposition Products at our Tualatin OR campus.  The primary job function will be C&F and long-term development activities in the semiconductor equipment industry designing and analyzing mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, conducting feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.  This position will interact with cross functional personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. 

 

Roles/Responsibilities:

  1. Designs and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packaging
  2. Conducts concept and feasibility studies, quick-turn C&F, and testing on new and modified designs
  3. Projects may include one or a combination of multiple disciplines that include identification and evaluation of concepts for fluid flow, heat transfer, mechanics, vacuum systems, RF/plasma, and controls. Includes optimizing designs for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
  4. Rapidly generate design concepts that will develop into detail drawings to manufacture those concepts.
  5. Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  6. Organize, participate and lead design reviews
  7. Analyzing designs in development – may need to use structural analysis (FEAs), thermal analysis and fluid flow analysis.
  8. Develops test stands and testing plans to establish reliability and design confidence

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8+ years of industry experience;  a Mechanical Master’s degree with 5 years’ experience;  a PhD with 3 years experience in the semiconductor capital equipment or related industries.
  • This is not a job for new graduates. Hands-on experimental experience is required.
  • Extremely knowledgeable using 3D CAD tools such as ProE, NX, etc. is required.
  • Develop, design, & understand critical mechanical systems that will include vacuum process chambers, vacuum exhaust systems, gas and/or liquid chemical delivery, pedestals, showerhead, controls in temperature and pressure.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying analytical techniques to propose concept, design experiment and/or method, evaluate feasibility, characterize and improve the systems, and release high volume manufacture equipment. Good understanding of semiconductor wafer processing is a plus.
  • Strong skills and experiences in problem solving, time and priority management, communication, and project management. Ability to act as a mentor in their area of expertise and peer to a well-qualified team is highly desired, including actively participating in design reviews, reviewing and providing feedback on others work including presentations, drawings and models, and communicating ideas and results to other engineers and management
  • Skills in Excel, SAP, PLM Systems, BOM Management Systems, Access, QuickBase, Matlab, etc. is a big plus.
