FINANCE MANAGER – COST ACCOUNTING

Lam Research Corporation develops semiconductor manufacturing solutions for the world’s leading chipmakers. We make the tools that make the chips that power your world. This position is with the Global Operations Finance team, supports the Cost Accounting organization, and is based in Tualatin, Oregon.

 

Essential Experience:

  • Extensive SAP experience within the SAP (Material Management, Production Planning, Sales & Distribution, FICO) modules to support cost accounting functions
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Macros, Visual Basic, V-lookups and Pivot tables, as well as Microsoft Access with the ability to manipulate large amounts of data, create models and analyze results with speed and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and adept at business partnering in a cross-functional environment
  • Very strong, accurate accounting skills with attention to details and the ability to meet a very compact month and quarter close schedule
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and flexibility to reprioritize tasks in a constantly changing environment
  • Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical skills to enable timely problem-solving and decision-making
  • Action-oriented and solution-driven and able to work in a fast pace environment

Functions and Duties:

  • The primary responsibilities include:
    • Direct supervision and development of two Cost Accountants
    • Leading the Tualatin site’s annual inventory standard cost valuation updates, monthly accounting closes, 2x/quarter forecast cycles and Balance Sheet Reviews
    • Initiating and driving execution of projects that promote standardization of business processes, efficiencies, simplification, scalability and streamlining
    • Working closely and cross functionally with Operations business partners on strategic initiatives, operating efficiencies, and other projects and activities
    • Overseeing the production labor absorption business processes through interactions with the manufacturing executives
    • Effectively supporting the business unit finance team members in the areas of costing
    • Develop and maintain product standard costs in SAP and forecast systems
    • Work closely with cross functional operations business partners and the Finance teams (Europe, Asia, U.S.) on critical tool shipments, annual operating plans, metrics, cost roll, variance reporting, etc
  • Will need to provide support to the staff and business partners to
    • Analyze and review Bills of Material (BOM) and standard costs to ensure accurate product costing and implementing processes to mitigate production order variances
    • Complete monthly close responsibilities related to manufacturing costs, labor and overhead absorption, work-in-process inventory, ensuring timeliness and accuracy meeting stringent deadlines
    • Provide inputs in projects and cost reduction initiatives, etc. as the subject matter expert for cost accounting
    • Perform variance analysis such as production order variance and work order variance analysis, etc. and work with Operations to resolve issues quickly
    • Support finance, product groups and other organizations in cost related areas
    • Collaborate cross functionally on projects that impact cost and related areas pertaining to the role
    • Assist with review and updates of controls, processes and procedures related to manufacturing finance and cost accounting and ensure SOX 404 compliance
    • Provide support to the Deposition Product Group business partners who are principally located in Tualatin

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related area
  • Minimum 12 years of experience including 3 years of Manufacturing accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior management experience
  • Ability to understand the manufacturing environment and the associated financial processes, experience preferred
  • Ability to effectively analyze transactional level detail in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, preferably prior SAP experience
  • Strong business skills and effective understanding of financial, distribution and manufacturing systems
  • Ability to multi-task, flexibility to reprioritize tasks in a constantly changing environment and completion of responsibilities by deadlines
