The Impact You’ll Make

As a Metrology Application Engineer at Lam, you will perform high level metrology services and develop metrology solutions for challenges from process development on cutting-edge technology, harnessing atomic precision, material science, and surface engineering to push technical boundaries. Your role involves providing high level metrology services with in-depth understanding of the metrology technology and developing metrology solution for process measurement challenges that never been discovered before. Your expertise and knowledge play a crucial role in our customers success and making an impact on the next generation of semiconductor breakthroughs.

In this role, you will directly contribute to moving forward the process R&D--serving as the eyes and as the metrology solution provider with your expertise and innovation. 

What You’ll Do

  • Provide high level metrology service on operating multiple tool types, developing recipes, generating and interpreting data, and providing 1:1 support to technologists at the highest technical level.
  • Work with process experts to develop innovative metrology solutions to enable cutting edge logic and memory process development in a R&D environment.
  • Make recommendations that can enhance overall lab performance and workflow, help developing metrology lab capabilities and perform regular evaluation of key metrology assets using SPC methods.
  • Coordinate and drive new metrology tool selection, tool introduction, and tool qualification.
  • Make training procedures and train metrology equipment users.
  • Manage vendors and interact efficiently with vendor field service engineers when need arises to help deliver maximum asset availability.

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or 
  • B.S with 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment and capability to deal with fast paced, customer service-oriented requests is a must
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in advanced technology with an on-going desire to learn and explore new areas.
  • Background in XPS, XRR/XRF/XRD, AFM, SIMS is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Material synthesis and material characterization.
  • Familiarity with working in a laboratory and on metrology equipment.
  • In-depth understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience with statistical tools (JMP, Minitab, etc.) is a plus.
