The newly formed Central Labs Organization team within Global Product Operations is searching for a process engineering candidate to help drive the implementation of the Global Lab Execution System (GLES) into our worldwide lab structure. This is an opportunity for the right candidate to make a global impact in Lam lab infrastructure as the GLES is implemented. You will thrive in a dynamic working environment, while developing project management and leadership skills. In this role, you will be a change agent to push Lam forward with fundamental changes in experiment execution, data collection, data connectivity and experimental analysis. You will be the key team member who ties together process engineers and technicians with the GLES application development team, to enable the successful execution of experiments and customer demos in Lam labs. Our industry is set to double in size in the next five years. For Lam to keep up with this unprecedented growth, we need to experiment and analyze data more efficiently. The Central Lab organization is looking for innovative individuals to define opportunities for business system and operational improvements to break down barriers and drive efficiency improvements for experimental execution in our global lab.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct process engineering research, development, and evaluation in support of Lam’s cutting-edge semiconductor equipment and systems.
- Review and enhance processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture and fabrication of products.
- Develop and sustain new processes and process improvements to reduce production costs and increase yields.
- Compile and analyze test data to establish next steps in process development and determine appropriate limits and variables for process specifications.
- Collaborate internally to plan, collect data, analyze results, and report on customer demos for existing process applications.
- Responsible for performing professional process engineering research, development, and evaluation in support of the company’s complex semiconductor capital equipment and systems.
- Reviews processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication and evaluation of products. Involvement may begin at any step from pilot plant to full-scale manufacturing.
- May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts and approaches in the processing or development of new processes.
- Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process specifications.
- Supports customer technology managers in the planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting of customer demos to defend existing process applications.
- Works with suppliers to make sure required parts and supplies are available.

Who We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics; or
- M.S with 3+ years of relevant work experience; or
- B.S with 5+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with working in a laboratory and on semiconductor equipment with experience in surface preparation and analytical techniques.
- In-depth understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Working knowledge of statistical analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
- Background in Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD), or Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD).
- Background in Plasma Physics, Reactive Ion Etching (RIE), Atomic Layer Etching (ALE), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), Capacitively Coupled Plasma (CCP).
- Knowledge of Material synthesis and material characterization.
- Familiarity with working in a chemical laboratory.
- Experience in surface preparation and analytical techniques.
- Interest in advanced technology and an on-going desire to learn.
- In-dept understanding and working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and ability to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs and deadlines.
- Excellent people skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
