The Impact You’ll Make

As a Process Engineer at Lam, you will operate on cutting-edge technology, harnessing atomic precision, material science, and surface engineering to push technical boundaries. Your role involves developing new and advanced process formulations, defining equipment hardware to meet processing requirements, evaluating test data, and coordinating design requirements to ensure compatibility of processing methods. Your expertise and knowledge play a crucial role our customers success, making an impact on the next generation of semiconductor breakthroughs.

What You’ll Do

  • Use their knowledge and experience with process integration to identify application opportunities that are expected in advanced CMOS, DRAM and NAND device manufacturing flows that require new film development.
  • Provide insight based on experience as to the optimal processing sequence, including surface preparation or treatment and/or film deposition, to resolve a given integration issue.
  • Responsible for performing process engineering research, development, and evaluation in support of the company’s complex semiconductor capital equipment and systems. 
  • Identify solution options to overcome challenges for delivering on Logic, 3D DRAM, or 3D NAND roadmaps.
  • Provide insights as to the performance capabilities required during development of new thin film deposition, clean and etch processes.
  • Conceives and plans projects involving definition and selection of new concepts and approaches in the processing or development of new processes.
  • Works with customer and senior engineers cross functionally to understand roadmaps, process flow, inflection points, requirements, and business issues/challenges. Develop white papers and present to executives for approval for new projects.
  • Analyze process data to identify and resolve process issues. Develop reports and present/communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Contributes to product development and release activities. 
  • May act as CTM-single point of contact accountable for process related requests.

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or Electrical Engineering + 5 years of industrial experience
  • M.S. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or Electrical Engineering + 10 years of industrial experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
  • Expert in GAA, 3D DRAM or 3D NAND process flows and challenges.
  • Familiarity with the strengths and weakness of the deposition modules used in an IC fabrication line. 
  • Good understanding of solid-state devices/transistors.
  • Knowledge in the working principles of CCP or ICP plasmas 
  • Interest in advanced technology and an on-going desire to learn.
  • Knowledge of thin film material science fundamentals
  • In-dept understanding and working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and ability to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs and deadlines.
  • Excellent people skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners.
  • Collaboration/ Matrix environment mindset
