RF Plasma Modeling Engineer 3

Job Responsibilities

The engineer will be part of a team that drives tool development and insight into semiconductor fabrication equipment through modeling and simulation of RF systems and Multiphysics phenomena involving low temperature process plasmas. We are looking for a candidate with strong fundamentals in plasma physics, electromagnetics, gas dynamics, heat transfer and fluid flow, and experience in computational plasmas, EM modeling, numerical methods, & chemical reaction kinetics.   

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Accountable for modeling, numerical analyses, and simulation to solve Lam’s toughest plasma process challenges. 
  • Apply knowledge of fundamental physics, and state of the art modeling and simulation techniques to inform tool design through concept and feasibility, root cause analysis, and optimization studies. 
  • Develop plasma models and validation techniques to improve model accuracy and predictability as required of Lam’s applications. 
  • Ability to leverage commercial, open-source codes and develop scripts to efficiently perform simulations. 
  • Ability to leverage machine learning, data science and optimization methods to increase the impact of plasma models. 
  • Work with teams consisting of experts in a wide range of disciplines, identify and solve problems, and communicate technical knowledge to a wide audience. 
  • Develop best practices and workflows for simulating recurring problems in the world of plasma processing. 

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in Mechanical Engineering/Material Science/Electrical Engineering/Physics/Nuclear Engineering/Aerospace Engineering with experience in at least two of the following areas 

  • Computational plasmas, numerical methods 
  • Fluid dynamics, molecular gas dynamics, heat and mass transfer, reactive flows 
  • Programming, machine learning 
  • Experience with the use of laboratory data and analysis of experiments.
  • The job is open to candidates with prior experience in industry, post-docs, scientists, new college graduates.
