Lam Research’s Legal department is currently seeking a trade compliance professional, who will be based either in Fremont, CA or Tualatin, OR with broad experience in developing, implementing, and managing a trade compliance team and a trade compliance program and infrastructure.  Specifically, this individual will be responsible for providing advice to in-house clients on a range of topics including export and import regulations and sanctions laws.  This individual will be responsible for ensuring compliance with United States and international trade regulations and for the development and maintenance of our trade compliance program.  The Director, Foreign Trade reports to the Sr. Director, Foreign Trade in Fremont, CA.

 

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance to leadership and company personnel on the interpretation and application of export, import, and sanctions laws and regulations;
  • Provide advice to in-house clients, including sales, logistics, supply chain, engineering, human resources and others regarding trade compliance issues and the company’s trade compliance program;
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Lam’s trade compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Drive advocacy, alignment and operational implementation of US and international trade regulation changes
  • Represent Foreign Trade in cross-functional initiatives providing Trade facilitation and regulatory compliance guidance
  • Enhance the company’s import and export programs including our licensing, audit, classification, valuation, and duty minimization programs
  • Develop and deliver training to educate employees and promote a culture of compliance
  • Assist with defining, documenting, and conducting Trade compliance audits and ensuring corrective action processes are in place to comply with U.S. and international trade regulations
  • Lead and manage a global team of trade compliance professionals
  • Represent Lam in US government and Industry trade-related matters
Other Job Responsibilities
  • Extensive knowledge of US and international export and import regulations
  • Strong experience in export licensing and classification for US, Asia, and Europe
  • Strong experience in import classification, valuation, and duty minimization programs
  • Knowledge of ERP Systems (SAP/GTS a plus)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to influence key decisionmakers at senior levels of responsibility
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people from different cultures and multiple levels in the organization
  • Manufacturing company and Foreign Trade Zone experience preferred
  • Project management, planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience delivering training to all levels of the organization (US and international)
  • Experience interacting, verbal and written, with US government agencies and Trade organizations
  • Logistics experience preferred
  • Ability to travel internationally, routinely (10% of the time) for trade-related matters

Minimum Qualification
  • 12+ years of relevant senior-level global trade compliance experience
  • Minimum BA/BS  - MBA and/or Trade-related advanced degree preferred
