Job Responsibilities


The Sr. Strategic Commodity Manager is part of the Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM) organization and will interface between Lam product teams and industries/suppliers that provide core component technologies.  In this position you will play a vital role managing suppliers in the Wet Deposition commodity space by working across organizations to formulate and execute commodity strategies, align development deliverables, negotiate contracts and agreements, benchmark suppliers, and resolve delivery, cost and production challenges.


You will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, recommending product innovations based on technology development and maintaining supplier partner relationships. The position requires an interest in market dynamics, negotiation, pricing, manufacturing processes, supply chain optimization, risk mitigation and collaboration across internal and external organizations.


Wet Deposition product output will be growing over the next few years and we have an opportunity to mitigate some of the risks associated with this growth.  This team will face some unique challenges and we intend to have fun while meeting these challenges.  Candidate should be a result-driven, self-starter possessing strong interpersonal skills with a strong focus on supporting customers.  This individual should also possess the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, to adapt to changing priorities and to work independently.

Other Job Responsibilities


  • Defines metrics and monitor supplier performance against expectations to ensure continuous supplier improvement and sustainability.  Regularly evaluate performance benchmarks, and the risks associated with the preferred supply base selection
  • Continuously working on process improvement to deploy & develop best known methods related to procurement, inventory control (e.g., JIT, Kanban, min/max) & manufacturing strategies
  • Encourages and coordinates early supplier involvement in new products parts design using the suppliers’ expertise to optimize quality and manufacturability
  • Drive the improvement of the suppliers’ manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, cost, and on-time-delivery
  • Collaborate on the continuous development of supply base through close teamwork with product management, global product group, and supplier engineers
  • Knowledge of supply chain management business processes and proper governance controls for factory management
  • Establishes goals with supplier to ensure material delivery meet forecasted demand.
  • Maintains current knowledge on relevant trends by personal contact, industry reports, trade journals, etc.
  • Develops presentation, white papers, process flow charts to support continues process improvement projects.
  • Works with supplier to monitors product cost preventing negative PPV and supporting cost reduction efforts.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited University a must; Advanced degree (MBA) from accredited University preferred
  • 7-10 years' experience in a similiar role
  • Solid analytical skills and understanding of statistical process control and basic statistical analysis used in production setting
  • Verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate cross-functionally and with various levels of the organization including executives
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes
  • International & domestic travelling

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management / Team Lead experience, Lean six sigma experience as a yellow or green belt or above a plus
  • At least 7 years of working in the Semiconductor Equipment Industry, Experience with working with global suppliers
