Short Description

The Floor Support Supervisor will work a M-F day shift schedule and will also be required to attend occasional off-shift/evening meetings and be available for periodic off-shift/evening communication.  

The Supervisor has a highly visible position and is the conduit for communication between management and the workforce.  It is imperative that the Supervisor practice collaborative communication with all stakeholders, peers, and subordinates, and fosters an environment where they influence others to do the same. The Supervisor shall:

  • Prioritize day to day activities for subordinates.

  • Encourage team work by modeling and follow through with positive communication, feedback and problem-solving behaviors while honoring Lam's core values.
  • Support, provide coaching, and encourage innovation with employees driving continuous improvement efforts.
  • Conduct regular feedback sessions with all employees and complete formal quarterly reviews.
  • Lead resolution to any customer escalations, scrap incidents, and quality nonconformance by facilitating 8D process and using all available resources to drive resolution.
  • The Supervisor will have approximately 15 - 20 direct reports including 2 leads to assist in executing directives. The Supervisor is responsible to provide support to meet all department Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity objectives. The Supervisor is also responsible for hiring competent staff, training and development, and meeting performance management objectives.  Lam is a matrix organization and the Supervisor will be required to network within the organization and collaborate with several support groups, management, and other manufacturing departments to achieve goals: specifically, the Supervisor will work closely with Manufacturing Management and Engineering Management to help drive collaborative business objectives and will be a conduit of communication between the two departments. The Supervisor will be required to drive, monitor, escalate and report on status of tactical issues. 
Job Responsibilities

The Floor Support Supervisor will have three primary responsibilities:

  • The Supervisor is responsible to provide technical troubleshooting services for the Sabre and Sabre 3D product lines including technical research and investigation, root cause analysis, and driving corrective actions. 
  • This role will also be responsible to managing the Sabre stockroom inventory, all tool crib duties/functions, and provide facility services to the department. 
  • The Supervisor will also be the department’s primary project manager and a champion of continuous improvement and will be responsible to collaborate with the facilities team to drive any assigned capital projects.

Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to the following: 

  • Meeting all department Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity objectives
  • Hiring competent staff, training and development, and meeting performance management objectives. 
  • Fostering a safe work culture and drive safety improvements.
  • Investigate and report on all accidents, injuries, and illnesses in a timely manner, and drive corrective actions by collaborating with support groups and management.
  • Address safety related issues promptly and enforcing written policies.
  • Enforce 5S work practices. Inspect and monitor the work area by completing RMBWA's (Risk Management by Walking Around), documenting issues and driving corrective actions.
  • Verify employees are current on all required safety trainings.
  • Enforce the SAFE Work Permit policy for any emergent issues and non-standard work. 
Preferred Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Physics, or other relevant field is required. Preference will be given to those possessing advanced degrees such as MBA. Will consider extensive (20+ years) military or other relevant leadership experience on a case by case basis if the education requirement is not met.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of relevant technical leadership experience in industrial equipment manufacturing within the semiconductor industry. It is highly desired for the candidate to have prior experience as a Supervisor or First Level Manager with direct reports in a technical role such as Project Management, Engineering, Facilities or Maintenance. The ideal candidate will also have formal training and experience in continuous improvement including six sigma green belt or black belt certification and formal project management experience (PMP is a plus).  The ideal candidate will have experience managing a preventive maintenance program, calibration program, and tool crib/stockroom activities including Kanban setup.

The candidate will also have the following additional skills/experience:

  • Highly developed presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of HR policies and procedures
  • Experience using database software, Microsoft office Suite (Word/Excel/Outlook/Project/Visio), SAP, Baton, KM Matrix, Share Point, iQMS, QLIK Navigate, Skype
