The Manufacturing Supervisor will work a compressed schedule (3 on and 4 off, 4 on and 3 off) in a 24/7 operation and will also be required to attend occasional off-shift meetings and be available for periodic off-shift communication. This is a night shift position and will most likely be on Back End nights alternating on Saturdays.

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for the Sabre and Sabre 3D product lines’ setup, calibration, and test operations, and will have approximately 20 -25 direct reports including 2 leads to assist in executing manufacturing directives. The Supervisor is responsible to meet all Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity objectives. The Supervisor is also responsible for hiring competent staff, training and development, and meeting performance management objectives.  Lam is a matrix organization and the Supervisor will be required to network in the organization and collaborate with several support groups, management, and other manufacturing departments to achieve goals. The Supervisor will be required to drive, monitor, escalate and report on status of tactical issues. The Supervisor will also be a capable project manager and a champion of continuous improvement. 

Safety ProtocolThe Supervisor is responsible to foster a safe work culture and drive safety improvements. The Supervisor is also responsible to rigorously enforce safe work practices and discipline unsafe behavior. The Supervisor shall:

  • Investigate and report on all accidents, injuries, and illnesses in a timely manner, and drive corrective actions by collaborating with support groups and management.
  • Lead by example modeling safe work practices/protocols and addressing safety related issues promptly and enforcing written policies.
  • Enforce 5S work practices. Inspect and monitor the work area by completing RMBWA's (Risk Management by Walking Around), documenting issues and driving corrective actions.
  • Verify employees are current on all required safety training.
  • Enforce the SAFE Work Permit policy for any emergent issues and non-standard work 

 

Communication:  The Supervisor has a highly visible position and is the conduit for communication between management and the workforce. It is imperative that the Supervisor practice collaborative communication with all stakeholders, peers, and subordinates, and fosters an environment where they influence others to do the same. The Supervisor shall:

  • Prioritize day to day activities for subordinates.
  • Encourage team work by modeling and follow through with positive communication, feedback and problem-solving behaviors while honoring Lam's core values.
  • Support, provide coaching, and encourage innovation with employees driving continuous improvement efforts.
  • Conduct regular feedback sessions with all employees and complete formal quarterly reviews.
  • Lead resolution to any customer escalations, scrap incidents, and quality nonconformance by facilitating 8D process and using all available resources to drive resolution.

 

Desired Experience, Education and Skills:  

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or relevant field is required. Preference will be given to those possessing advanced degrees such as MBA. Will consider extensive (20+ years) military or other relevant leadership experience on a case by case basis if the education requirement is not met.

 

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of relevant leadership experience in industrial equipment manufacturing in the semiconductor industry. It is highly desired for the candidate to have prior experience as a Supervisor or First Level Manager with direct reports. The ideal candidate will also have formal training and experience in continuous improvement including six sigma green belt or black belt certification and formal project management experience (PMP is a plus).

 

The candidate will also have the following additional skills/experience:

  • Highly developed presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of HR policies and procedures
  • Experience using database software, Microsoft office Suite (Word/Excel/Outlook/Project/Visio), SAP, Baton, KM Matrix, Share Point, iQMS, QLIK Navigate, Skype
